“I want my photography to be a record of simple things, little things, beautiful things. I want to slow things down. I want the viewer to slow down. We all have our own individual perspectives of this world and my photos are a way of sharing mine.”

These images draw attention to the link between some of the various elements that shape our perceptions of the world. Our choice of words and use of language say more about us than the mere words. Likewise – what we choose to focus our visual attention on shapes how we “view” the world and how we perceive it on other levels.

The words are therefore the starting point, which is somewhat a reversal of the standard practice of having a caption to describe the artwork. Here the visual image – the photograph – is my attempt to describe the words in the caption.

This involves many levels of translation, an idea which fascinates me. I have taken the favourite words from these people, translated them into a different language (English), then translated them again into a different medium (Photography).

A selection of Trent Everitts latest intriguing WORDS series (from China) will feature at July’s Creative Drinks event.

A night celebrating Creativity would not be complete without a generous sprinkling of the unusual. Thankfully digital animation, creative fun house and 2010 Tropfest winners Bigfish have plenty to go around.

Screening an assortment of colorful animated shorts throughout the venue from their Fest series ranging from the absurdly hilarious to the hilariously absurd, Bigfish will baffle and amaze in ways that only little animated creatures singing about ‘yogurt pants’ can.

Their latest collaboration in the new ABC3 Television cartoon series Laser Beak Man, will include a special presentation from Bigfish animators and creator Tim Sharp (and mom), who overcame the limitations of autism to represent Australia as a truly inspirational creative identity.

Really looking forward to this one.

Creator Jimmy Bligs has worked hard to develop a brand that continues to evolve, while staying true to its origins. Grand Scheme is summarised as an independent arts and lifestyle label that blurs the lines between street-wear, fashion and art.

Grand Scheme collaborates with like-minded artists from around the world in its limited edition artist series prints. So far featured artists include Anthony Lister, Nate Van Dyke and Revok with more inspiring artists to follow each season.
Founded in Australia in 2006 with an independent rebellious spirit gained from a background in graffiti and design, the label has quickly expanded from humble beginnings to one of today’s most exciting new brands.

Grand Scheme will be represented at Creative Drinks in a unique and exclusive fashion installation that will have to be seen to be believed.

Over ten years of travel around the globe (from North, Central and South America to Southeast Asia and now Australia) have inspired his natural style of photography and a unique, creative flavor; capturing countless amazing moments true to the people and places encountered.

His creative mission is to create a sense of immediacy beyond aesthetic relativism where the viewer is presented with an opportunity to access a moment of fundamental truth flowing beneath the surface.

Ultimately, Jason wants to produce works for organizations that are ‘fighting the good fight’ in an effort to create a more sustainable future where we experience life on this planet in terms of Global Citizenship… Fostering a stronger sense of the ‘We’ as opposed to the ‘Self-Grasping “I” Habit’ with which most of us have unwittingly identified.

A selection of Jason’s uniquely Aussie works will be available for viewing at the upcoming event.

Danielle Lewis is an upcoming Brisbane Fashion Designer. Graduating from a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Fashion Design) at QUT in 2005, Danielle has found herself hot on the Brisbane fashion scene. Since then Danielle has shown several collections in Brisbane for charity and commercial events and has recently launched her designs through popular social networking site Facebook. Danielle also writes popular fashion blog BrisbaneThreads. BrisbaneThreads collaborates with Brisbane nightclub photographers to follow current and emerging fashion trends in the state – and how you can get the look.

Danielle’s designs reflect the latest trends whilst always remaining fashion forward. All garments are produced in strictly limited runs ensuring you remain an individual.

Her latest collection draws inspiration from the work she has been doing with her fashion blog. Studying Brisbane nightlife and watching young club-goers put their own individual spin on current fashion trends, has led to the evolution of “Into the Night”. A bold collection featuring luxurious black jersey and silks encrusted with Swarovski jewels…A sneak peak of the new collection will be on display for your viewing pleasure, exclusively at the Creative Drinks Christmas Event.
